Hacking Hema is a project where I made two bags from recycled/hacked Hema products.
I noted that certain Hema products had been designed and manufactured for an extremely short lifespan. I saw that rubbish bin bags, children’s place mats, jute Sinterklaas (Saint Nicholas) bags and a bagstrap were designed for a very short or meaningless consumption. I therefor decided to convert these objects into new rucksacks.
Later I appealed to Hema to initiate a Hacking Hema movement online. No reply was given to my appeal, however Hema has shown some recent activity concerning the Hacking of Hema products on Facebook.
